Responsibilities

  • Description
    • As a craftsman, you will be required to prepare the materials before loading, set up the rigging equipment, coordinate the movement of heavy equipment machinery, and dismantle the rigging after the job. You will also be required to communicate with the craftsman team and ensure compliance with state health and safety regulations.
    • Craftsman are responsible for aligning and anchoring the machinery, attaching loads, and ensuring the rigging is safe for use.
    • A craftsman position requires the person to demonstrate the ability to follow directions and ask pertinent questions when required.
    • A craftsman must be willing to learn industry terms, work practices, proper use of tools/lifting equipment, and skills that will allow the craftsman to assist other yard/lifting personnel as needed.
    • A craftsman must report to work on time and as scheduled and maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and supervisors and stay productive throughout the workday.

 

  • Responsibilities & Duties
    • Complete and discuss a thorough JSA prior to each task.
    • Always have a positive attitude towards internal and external customer service.
    • Inspecting and preparing loads that need to be moved.
    • Setting, aligning, and leveling heavy equipment machinery.
    • Selecting the appropriate rigging gear.
    • Preparing rigging equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts.
    • Monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining rigging equipment.
    • Maneuvering loads using heavy equipment machinery and by hand.
    • Ensuring compliance with state and company safety procedures.
    • Communicating with the rigging and construction team.
    • Breaking down rigging equipment and conducting post-rigging inspections.
    • Assist any operator as needed.
    • Keep shackle rack in order.
    • Make sure that if any rigging is borrowed by anyone that it is returned.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Preferably high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience & Requirements
    • Preferably 3-6 months minimum experience, rigging operations
    • Familiarity and experience with OSHA safety standards.
    • In-depth knowledge of rigging equipment and heavy machinery.
    • Excellent hearing and vision.
    • Ability to work at heights and in noisy environments.
    • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment.
    • Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
