Responsibilities

  • What you'll do

  • The Construction Laborer position requires the person to demonstrate the ability to follow directions and ask pertinent questions when required.
  • The laborer must be willing to learn industry terms, work practices, use of tools, and skills that will allow them to assist other personnel as needed.
  • The laborer must report to work on time and as scheduled and maintain a professional working relationship with co-workers and supervisors and stay productive throughout the workday.
  • Unload tools, prepare building site materials, stack building materials, and set up equipment
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn
  • Participate in JSA development & review
  • Follow project instructions from construction manager or supervisor
  • Direct traffic safely around the construction or road maintenance site (spotting)
  • Perform duties as a Firewatch, when necessary
  • Maintain a positive attitude with internal and external customers by providing quality customer service.
  • Help equipment operator, riggers, and other skilled labor when necessary.
  • Prep construction sites by cleaning obstacles and hazards.
  • Load or unload construction materials.
  • Put together and take apart temporary structures, such as scaffolding.
  • Remove, fill, or compact earth.
  • Ready to learn from on-the-job training when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education
    • Preferably high school diploma or equivalent
  • What you need to know
    • Preferably 3-6 months minimum experience in fabrication/construction
    • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks
    • Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
